Spring 2019 Professional Development Day

This workshop is designed to support the understanding of implicit bias and why we all have it. We will define implicit and explicit bias, take the Implicit Association Test, and consider tools and resources to create individualized semester-long plans for ongoing debiasing work.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand and be able to explain why we all have implicit biases;
  • Analyze examples of how implicit bias impacts our work at the interpersonal, institutional, and systemic levels;
  • Discover individual implicit biases by taking an Implicit Association Test; and
  • Create an individualized semester-long plan to participate in ongoing debiasing work.
