Facilitating Challenging Conversations: Facilitation Basics

Difficult Conversations picture

Facilitating conversations among peers is often a different experience than teaching students and other adult learners; when those conversations touch on issues of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion, they can be particularly challenging. This workshop will discuss the skills and dispositions of effective facilitators as well as strategies to address common concerns / challenges. Although no prior experience or knowledge is required, participants are encouraged to attend the other sessions in the Facilitating Challenging Conversations series.

Participants will: Discuss the role and tasks of a facilitator Explore the components of an effective learning experience Discuss strategies for addressing common facilitation challenges
