November, Giving Thanks Should Be Done All Year Round
When November comes, we think of getting together with family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving. We think of the dinner, the decorations, and what are we wearing for that day. Nowadays, we are also thinking of Black Friday and CyberMonday.
We have to remind ourselves that thanking is a daily activity. When you say thanks to your colleagues for helping you with a project, for teaching you a new skill, for sharing some time chatting, for sharing coffee with you, it creates an atmosphere of camaraderie and warmth.
A couple of days ago, our campus president, Michael E. Spagna, sent a message addressing concerns from our campus community having concerns about personal safety, acts of discrimination, and feelings of bias. In his message, he raised one good point: "We have work to do as a community to fulfill our potential." This is very true. His efforts to address these issues are a great start.
At the same time, we have to do our own part to recognize the good in people and the actions that they do to make our lives happier, easier, lighter.
For my part, I would like to thank all my coworkers and friends for their constant support and all the good things they bring to my life.
