What Motivates YOU?
Struggling to maintain motivation? You are not alone. Harvard Business Review recently reported that 53% of employees reported feeling more exhausted and 57% feel more anxious since the outbreak of the pandemic.
Our mental and physical well-being directly impact our motivation. How we address this for ourselves and our teams is up to us. We have the power to find and practice positive ways to build strength, resilience and - yes - motivation to live our best lives, even in the midst of uncertainty.
We’ve gleaned some easy hacks to get you started:
START: Sometimes tasks can seem overwhelming. Start with something simple and enjoyable to “prime the pump”.
REMEMBER: Think of past successes, and how you felt when you achieved them. (My favorite brings to mind the song “Happy”!)
DANCE: Movement - especially movement we enjoy - triggers a release of dopamine which lifts mood and increases energy levels.
LISTEN: Music that lifts your mood, a positive podcast, birds, children giggling… you get the picture!
EAT: A variety of foods provide mood-lifting benefits that help to energize us in a sustainable way: nuts and seeds, berries and bananas, beans and lentils, coffee and dark chocolate are just a few of the (delicious!) options.
SMILE: When you smile your brain releases tiny molecules called neuropeptides to help fight off stress. And it lifts the mood of others around you. A win-win!
We believe in you - you’ve got this!
