The California State University Board of Trustees recognizes that the right of privacy is an inalienable right protected by the California Constitution. In order to insure individuals handling student records fully understand and comply with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements, all HSU employees that interact with student data are being asked to take this course.

The training is required by all instructors, all advisors and anyone who submits an Access Request Form for Student Data.

Based on guidance from the Chancellor's office Executive Order 796, HSU has established a policy for the administration of student records consistent with the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and the regulations adopted thereunder.

You will be required to take the training every two years. It is due 90 days after assignment.
