All state employees are designated as disaster services workers. But what does that mean? Come and learn what that means, what is your responsibility as a disaster service worker (DSW) and what can you expect. Also learn ways that you can better prepare yourself and your family for disasters.

Portable Fire Extinguisher Training
Monday, October 29, 2018 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Fire prevention is valuable for campus and at home. This version of Portable Fire Extinguisher training is for all employees and students to attend. This is for any person who wants to become comfortable with a portable fire extinguisher through a simulated fire. There is a laser-driven system which simulates an actual fire with audio and real weight of the extinguisher.

Bloodborne Pathogens
Monday, October 29, 2018 - 2:00pm to 3:00pm

Section 5193 of Title 8 in the California Code of Regulations requires all employees with the potential for exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material must complete training which covers all elements of the standard including, but not limited to: information on bloodborne pathogens and diseases, methods used to control occupational exposure, hepatitis B vaccine, and medical eval

Ergonomics
Tuesday, October 30, 2018 - 11:00am to 12:00pm

Training Description: This presentation will provide insight into the anatomy of the spine, postures during daily tasks, and the prevention of cumulative trauma injuries. Looking at our daily tasks we will attempt to identify and break bad habits. We will provide insight and practice simple stretching exercises, which can be customized for individuals.

Concussion
Tuesday, October 30, 2018 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Traumatic brain injury (e.g. concussion) basics, including signs and symptoms, neurophysiological changes in the brain, best practices for recovery and return to activity, short and long-term consequences of mismanagement, and applicable CA state law. Presentation will highlight current scientific evidence and leave time for Q and A.

During the stress management seminar, we will discuss sources of stress and stress responses and practice stress management techniques. We will also explore stress management tools that are free and accessible to all and make our own stress balls during the session.

Wednesday, October 31, 2018 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Whether you use chemicals to clean your home or your home has asbestos flooring, every home has the potential to contain hazardous materials that take a certain amount of care when encountered. Come learn about the different hazards you might encounter in your home and hazards caused by certain activities and how to deal with them safely.
