-------Workshop Cancelled------- Team-based learning (TBL) is an emerging instructional model that proposes to dramatically transform the classroom experience for both teachers and students. TBL requires students to be more responsible and accountable for their own and their peers’ learning while reducing the amount of class time spent on traditional lecture-based activities. Existing research and personal experience demonstrate that this method enhances student learning and retention while also building community within the classroom. In this workshop, participants will be provided with an overview of TBL, an outline for getting started, a case study of how this approach was used in an upper-division human geography course, hands-on demonstration of the “readiness assessment,” and supplemental resources.
